Terrible, terrible story from the Herald. Claiming that “doctors and patients have criticised the Pharmac system” since the start and we’re missing out on all kinds of live-saving miracles because of this.  Interesting, given that there’s decades of nuanced argument on this that argues all sides yet tends to be positive towards Pharmac…

Where did the Herald’s journalists get this story?  All sourced from the very balanced-sounding “Research Medicines Association” - so who are they? Oh, a lobby group for all the pharmaceutical companies  =|

That “story” was from Martin Johnston - embarrasingly he is bylined with Audrey Young today on a more balanced follow up.  Clearly the Political Editor bitch-slapped the man and made him rewrite something that vaguely approaches journalism and not spruiking PR from vested interests.
